Privacy policy

We only collect what the app needs to work:

• Account details. Your email address and name, and your password in a securely hashed form.
• Profile choices. Your role (athlete, parent, or coach), sport, position, goals, theme, notification preferences, and privacy settings.
• Motion analysis results. The scores and joint-angle measurements computed on your device when you analyze a rep, along with the sport, movement, and date.
• Workout and lesson progress. Which exercises and workouts you complete, and your lesson scores, stars, XP, and the days you played.
• Team information entered by coaches. Team names, rosters (names, jersey numbers, positions, availability), schedules for games and practices, scores, and game stats.
• Device connections. Connections to services like WHOOP, GameChanger, and Apple Health are simulated in this beta. We do not receive data from those services today, and we only store whether you turned a connection on.

• Your video. Motion analysis runs in your browser, on your device. The camera feed and any video you choose are never uploaded to us or stored by us. Only the resulting scores and measurements are saved.
• Data for sale. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers.
• Ads. PlayBetter has no ads and no advertising trackers.

We use your information to run your account, show your progress, build your daily plan, and let coaches manage their teams. We may email you about your account, such as a sign-in link or a password reset. We do not use your information for anything unrelated to the service.

• You can see everything in your own account.
• Coaches can see athletes only on teams they coach. An athlete joins a team with the team's 6-character invite code. A coach can see an athlete's profile and motion analysis scores, unless the athlete turns off coach sharing in Profile.
• Parents who create and manage an athlete's account can see everything in it. The privacy switches in Profile control what is shared with a parent and with a coach, and they can be changed at any time.
• Teammates can see the team roster, schedule, scores, and game stats. They cannot see your motion analyses, workouts, or lesson progress.
• Workouts and lesson progress are visible only to you.
• Our service providers process data only to run PlayBetter for us, as described under Storage.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of an athlete or anyone else.

PlayBetter is for people ages 13 and older. Athletes under 13 may use PlayBetter only through an account that a parent or guardian creates and manages. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13 without a parent or guardian's involvement.

A parent or guardian can review an athlete's information, change what is shared, or ask us to delete it. To request deletion, use Delete my data in Profile, or email cooperwon2009@gmail.com from the email on the account with the athlete's name. If you believe a child under 13 created an account without a parent, email us and we will delete it.

Your account data is stored with Supabase, our database and sign-in provider, on servers in the United States. The website is hosted on Vercel. If you use PlayBetter from outside the United States, your information is transferred to and stored in the United States.

Some settings, and progress made while signed out or viewing sample data, are kept only in your browser's local storage on your device.

We keep your information for as long as your account is open. You can erase your motion analyses, workouts, and lesson progress at any time with Delete my data in Profile. To close your account and delete everything, including team data you created, email cooperwon2009@gmail.com. We complete deletion requests within 30 days, except where we must keep a record by law.

If a coach deletes a team, its roster, schedule, and game stats are deleted too.

All traffic to PlayBetter is encrypted in transit with HTTPS. Every table in our database uses row level security, which means the database itself checks that a request comes from someone allowed to see that row, such as the athlete or a coach on their team. No system is perfect, so please use a strong password and tell us right away if you think your account was accessed without permission.

PlayBetter is in beta and this policy will change as the product does. When we make a meaningful change, we will update the date above and let you know in the app or by email.
